Are Fever And Swelling Normal After Administering DTP Vaccine?

Question: Hi,
After administering DTP , HiB vaccine my son is having fever and swelling in the area where shot is given.
we are giving Dolopar 250 (2ml) every 5 hours.
Fever is still there. Vaccine is given last night.

I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. For a day or two after vaccination (mainly with DTP) a child may have fever and that is not something concerning. Dolopar or Crocin and tepid sponging is all that is needed. Please be patient. I am certain that the fever would subside in the next few days. The swelling should also subside. If not, it would be a good idea to get the condition reviewed by your treating physician.

Thanks for your reply. is dosage of paracetamol (Dolopar 250) right?..he weighs 11 kg

The dose of paracetamol is 15mg/kg/dose

Detailed Answer:
The correct dose for your child would be 3.5ml per dose. You therefore need to increase the dose.
