Question: I am XXXX, I wrote a few days ago re left hip pain but did not get any orthopedic dr answer.
Can u find my questions and send me good information pls. It has been hurting quite a while an X-ray showed socket ok. But brown marks all over left hip. I already take tramadol 50 mg x 3 times a day and Tylenol 5 x per day, had cortisone shot in Feb. into hip, and lidocaine. These did not last well for extended pain relief. Aspirin allergy and No NSAIDS allowed. What exercises would help?

There are many brown spots on hip about thumbnail spots size, severe spine degeneration low spine, severe arthritis. Tnx so very much for your help. Going to see 2 more orthodic surgeons for hip. XXXX

Brief Answer:
It could be avascular necrosis. May require a total hip replacement.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

As I understand, you have left hip pain which is not getting relieved by tramadol 50x3 daily. X-ray shows brown marks all over (L) hip. as I can see from the previous question, you also have multiple joint replacements.

In my opinion, the brown spots on the x-rays are small lytic lesions which are usually seen in case of severe arthritis and/or avascular necrosis of the hip.

This condition if not relieved by pain killers needs further assessment by MRI and may require another surgery of Total hip replacement (L).

I hope to have answered your question.
