Brief Answer:
Can take 4-6 weeks with proper rest.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
A stress fracture in the hip at your age is usually associated with weakened bones. It needs a proper bed rest with regular calcium and Vitamin K2 supplements to heal. Avoid all the stressful and painful movements. It usually takes 4-6 weeks to heal if there is no further injury to the area and proper rest is provided.
I hope this answers your query.

Hi, doctor. Just a question about anti-inflammatorys. My doctor has tried Celebrex and Mobic but neither seem to alleviate the pain too well and very bad on the stomach. Would u tell me the name of a different anti-inflammartory I could ask my doctor for during next visit.

Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
All the pain killers do cause some gastric irritation. The mildest pain killer is acetaminophen which is not likely to help the bone pain. Celebrex is a good pain killer with minimum gastric effects. You can add an over the counter antacid like Meacid four times a day along with it to tackle the side effects. In case that doesn't help then analgesics like Tramadol can be prescribed by your treating doctor.
Hope this answer is helpful.

Dear Dr. Tayal, thank u so much for your answer. It has been just about 4 weeks now since the injury and I can now put weight on the leg but have quite a bit of groin pain on that side as well as a deep aching in that left leg both in the front and on the side of leg. Will this dissipate in time and also, would physical therapy be of any use?

Brief Answer:
Allow the fracture to heal completely first.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
It is too early to put on weight on the leg. Do avoid all painful movements. Let the fracture heal properly first.
The deep pain that you are feeling will dissipate with time. Physical therapy will help but wait till the fracture heals and all the movements are pain free.
Take rest and doing a hot compress in the area will help.
Regards.
