Brief Answer:
Dry skin due to soaps and bath is likely the cause- further cautions and detailed explanation below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service,

I carefully read your query and understand your concern.

Penile skin peeling is not very common but may happen as a normal process, especially if you have been using strong soaps to wash with and after shower/bath. As long as you have no redness, no pain, no increased secretions, generally penile skin peeling is not something to worry about.

Also, because you used a condom, it is very unlikely you may have contracted a sexually transmitted disease. Furthermore, sexually transmitted diseases do not cause peeling but genital wounds, pain, increased secretions, urinary symptoms, etc.

If you get redness, pain, increased secretions, or urinary symptoms then other causes should be considered. In this case, a fungal infection would be the first to consider and a local antifungal cream such as miconazole or clotrimazole can be applied locally on the peeling skin twice a day for 1-2 weeks.

To conclude:
- very likely you just have a dry skin that is peeling off, especially because you noticed this while taking a bath (soaps and rigorous washing may cause the skin to peel)
- if you get any redness, pain, secretions or urinary symptoms then other causes such as a fungal infection should be considered and a local antifungal cream twice a day for 1-2 weeks would help.
- if the condom broke or you are not better with the antifungal cream then sexually transmitted infections should be considered and in this case, a single dose of azithromycin 2g would be sufficient. You may do tests for STIs and your partner/s should be treated as well.
- rarely, an allergic reaction can happen due to condoms, in this case, there is itchiness and redness, so it is something to consider if you get symptoms again with future condom use.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
