Treponema denticola

What is Treponema denticola?

This is a gram negative anaerobic bacterium that causes periodontal disease. It is related to treponema pallidum that causes syphilis, a venereal disease. This causes swelling of gums, gingivitis, foul odour in mouth, etc.
