After 3 months of 1 or 2 small packs a day i finally quit gutka. I am very unhappy with my chubby square face . My question is, is it because of quitting smoke or eating gutka. how can i get rid of it, as i was not like that before. Its been 5 years since then, but no change and still chubby and square/.....what can i do now???

I'm 51 and quit smoking about a year and a half ago.Lately I have been trying to get healthy so this summer I had my yearly exam and had a mammogram.Lately I have been having alot of dizzy spells, the blood work they did at my apt.showed high cholesterol. Also I was having some back problems so I got 3 cortizone shots in the last month. The day after the third shot,my arms turned to rubber bands and pin and needles. It really scared me and now today my pointer finger on the right hand went numb. What do you think this all means?

doctor1 MD

Dear Sir/ Ma'am,

Sorry to hear about your problem. None of your conditions or your cortizone injections can explain the numbness in your hand. The only possible cause of this numbness is that if some nerve is getting compressed in your back. For this you should visit a neurologist and have...

I m on champax to help me quit smoking , I ve been on it for 11 days and quit yesterday. The past two days I ve been throwing up in the mornings, get dizzy and my legs feel really heavy. I also just want to sleep all day and my stomach has become bloated. It s also caused my periods to be 3days late (I m on the pill ) is this a sign to stop taking them or just withdrawals from no nicotine?

doctor1 MD

Hi,

Nausea, vomiting, bloating and dizziness can be due to both nicotine withdrawal and adverse effects of champix. In your case, since the symptoms started just after quitting smoking, I feel nicotine withdrawal is the most likely cause although it usually is not severe in people on champix....

Hello,

I'm 35 and for the last month I've been having problems voiding my bowels. In the last week it has now started to give pains in my testicles with a need to pee when the pain becomes intolerant. Hi I quit smoking about a week and half ago (not sure if this has any relevance) and I went out partying last night and got very drunk. I ve just thrown up due to the amount of alcohol intake last night and I threw up loads of black mucus type stuff. There was quite a lot of it. Is there anything I should be worried about? Thanks

doctor1 MD

Hello,
Yes this is definitely to be worried as this black stuff could be the blood.
Blood from stomach, when vomited,is black in color because red blood becomes black after coming in contact with the acid of stomach.
You must consult a doctor and get yourself examined.
Alcohol can cause ulceration...

5 5, 178lbs, 28F, just diagnosed with ulcers (duodenal? and gastric) so I have been taking Ranitidine and Dexilant? I have been trying to quit smoking . I got stressed today and smoked a cigarette. After about 20 minutes I experiences a very severe throbbing/pulsating pain in my abdomen area. Very painful. It last for a few minutes and went away. I m worried that something is wrong. But I am not experiencing symptoms now so I m hesitant to go to urgent care. What does this sound like?

I had a hysterectomy in summer 2008 - everything was removed, even ovaries. I ve been taking 1 mg of Estradiol ever since and I m worried that I may be taking it longer than I should. I ve researched the pros and cons of quitting it but there is equal argument for both. I don t know what to do....I want to stop taking it but not if it will put me as risk. I m fairly healthy, almost 44 yo. No history (or family history) of cancers and I quit smoking more than a year ago. Can you please advise me if you feel - after almost 6 years - I should discontinue HRT?

I am a 30yr old man (no health conditions, 6ft, 180lbs) who has recently started taking champix to aid in sessation of chewing tobacco. Last night I had 2 drinks & went to bed, I was woken up at 6:00am because I believe I had been incontinent. Is this a side effect of champix? Or possible champix & some alcohol? Thank you

I am a 23 old male who quit smoking cigarettes about two months ago and drink alcohol only really on the weekends. I have a re-occuring pain in my upper stomach/sternum area and it feels like I have been punched in the stomach. It does not see to help to go to the bathroom or take pepto bismol or tums. It does not seem like gas or heartburn , and it happens randomly, not after a meal often so it doesnt seem like indigestion. I realize I need to see my doctor but is there any tests I can do at home or something I can do to help the pain?
