What is Superficial temporal artery?

it is a branch of external carotid artery , which starts from posterior aspect of mandibular angle and passes towards the skull through retroauricular area and supplys the skin ,subcutaneous tissues and muscles of associated side of skull. it bleed profusely when skin of the skull is incised due to trauma,or ietroganically.
