Sinoatrial node

What is Sinoatrial node?

The sinoatrial node is the impulse-generating or pacemaker tissue located in the right atrium of the heart. The normal sinus rhythm is initiated by this specialised tissue. It is innervated by the parasympathetic nervous system in the form of the vagus nerve and the sympathetic nervous system from T1-4 spinal outflow.
