Seroma

What is Seroma?

A seroma is a collection of clear serous fluid that develops in the body after surgery. It happens by seeping of the blood plasma when the small blood vessels are ruptured. Seroma can also be caused after injury from a blow or fall. Usually seroma gradually get absorbed in a few days or weeks. Seromas are common after radiation therapy of breast, abdominal and reconstructive surgeries.
