doctor1 MD

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query. Since you had been prescribed progesterone for your delayed periods, it looks like delaying of periods in your case was a result of hormonal imbalance. For a menstrual cycle to occur, LH / FSH (released from the pituitary gland in the brain) and estrogen

my wife and I have been trying for a baby for 14 months. I am 29, my wife is 25 . My wifes bloodtest showed her progestorone level to be slightly low. My first semen test has came back and the results showed: count -11million , motility- 22% , morthology- 13% normal, 7 million round cells, volume 7ml. Waiting for a consultant but I know this is not good. Will we be able to have a baby with these odds???will changing my dietand lifestyle and taking the right vitamins be enough? what else can we do?

doctor1 MD

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

I can understand your concern but the sperm analysis and progesterone levels are both not normal.

In a normal sperm analysis, the Volume over 2 cc is normal, so 7 cc is normal in your case. But if the sample has less than 20 million sperm per ml, this is...

I'm 33 my period is 8 days late. This is not normal for me. I've taken 2 HPT's and both were negative. My breasts are tingly and sore, I've been spotting off and on for 5 days. I've been having a lot of headaches lately, which is not normal for me. Is it possible that I am pregnant? I've heard of the HPT's not working if your hormone progesterone isn't high enough? I have 2 children so, this isn't too new to me.

doctor1 MD

Hello,

Thanks for the query.

After going through the description provided by you, I feel that the symptoms are associated with Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding.

Sore breasts with headache goes in the favour of PMS (Premenstrual syndrome).

Pregnancy test done twice can not be wrong but to confirm...

Hello. I am 45yo, 5'10" 195lb woman with diet controlled diabetes (no meds, tho. A1C is up to 6.5 from 6.2 last fall). I am on day 20 of my period, which has been extremely heavy and showing no signs of stopping. I have had blood work showing anemia and also had a pelvic ultrasound showing uterine fibroids. Loestrin was recommended to get my bleeding stopped. I am wondering how safe it is as a 45yo non-smoking woman that has lumpy breasts and 2 previous (benign) needle biopsies from concerns from mammograms. I am researching right now trying to make sure that loestrin is the right thing for me to do. Thank you for any advice you can share.

doctor1 MD

Hello,

Thanks for the query.

Well, if you are having fibroids, then the type and size of the fibroids are important in deciding treatment. The bleeding is due to the fibroids and I am sure you are aware of it.

After reading your history, I would not advice estrogen containing pills to stop the...

Hello. I had a complete hysterectomy at 44 and do not regret it at all, except for some water retention in my belly which I take a water pill for. I m 49 now and have been taking Vivelle.dot for 5 years and really all is well. However, recently, I spoke with a DO who said even though I don t have a uterus I should be taking progesterone. Helps with sleep, anxiety, weight gain and bone loss. She prescribed 100 mg. capsule of progesterone once nightly. About to take it tonight....but reading stories has made me wonder. So many different opinions. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi......I am 5 weeks pregnant....Actually, my pregnancy was conformed while i was on a trip to Mumbai, hence had to see a doctor there. He had prescribed (Folvite - in morning, oral), Dubagest sr 300 (after breakfast, oral) and Duphaston (at bedtime, oral). After i came back to Delhi my gynaecologist made a slight change. She removed Dubagest sr 300 and asked to take Susten-VT (bedtime, vaginal). I wanted to know is taking Duphaston and Susten-VT safe, that too at bedtime. Since both are progesterone. Thanks
