Hello Doctor specializing in rhinology/sinus surgery/head and neck etc,

What are your thoughts on balloon sinuplasty for sinus surgery? I've done some research, but wanted your opinion:

Do you perform it for your patients?
What has been your experience with this type of procedure?
If you have not used it, what has been the main reason why?
Are there any advantages or disadvantages to me having regular or traditional sinus surgery?
What has been your experience with companies that offer this technology (Acclarent,Entellus) ?

Thanks for writing to us.
Balloon sinus plasty for the sinus surgery is a well accepted procedure and the success rate depends on the degree of deformity that you are having. It has chances of lesser bleeding and earlier recovery.
I hope this information has been both informative and...

Well come HCM
Thank for asking
I really appreciate your concern, it may not be the blood stain stool or it may not be bleeding per rectum but it seems to be due to diet taken, if the condition of blood need to be confirmed then stool need to be sent for laboratory examination and rectum needs to...

Hi,

Based on the clinical details, the primary diagnosis seems to be sinusitis. Headaches are most likely related to sinusitis. As of now, empirical antibiotics should be started to treat sinusitis. Naproxen can be used for relief of headaches.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I...

I have been using loratadine allergy pills for a long time - more then 10 years. My sinus infections are so bad that my Dr put me on C0 Betahistine, (fluid and swelling in inner ear/Eustachian tube) so I stopped using my other allergy pills (I buy them at Costco). Would I be experiencing any withdrawal from my allergy pills? I have a weird restless feeling in my body, similar to when I was having to withdraw from prescription pain meds. I am also on my 3rd round of antibiotics, this one being moxifloxacin HCI. I was supposed to have my second sinus surgery last in 2013 (previous one in 2008), but I cancelled because my knee replacement surgery has not healed, and I wanted my body to deal with one thing at a time. Sorry I thought this was a free service. Thank you, Shirley Wiebe age 61

I am writing about my 14 year old son, who has been ill repeatedly 4 times for the past 7 weeks. He s been on antibiotics all 4 times, struggles to recover until his antibiotics are nearly gone, finally feels better for a few days and then gets it again. We are wondering if it is valley fever. Can that come with congestion/sinus symptoms? He s been diagnosed with sinus infections each time, but develops not only significant congestion/sinus symtpoms, but also chest pain, horrible coughing, fatigue, sore throat, and is miserable. He has faithfully taken not only strong antibiotics, but prescription strength cough syrup/decongestant, Flonase nasal spray, Zyrtec once a day, and breathing treatments up to 4 times a day, along with vitamin C and lots of fluids. He is otherwise very healthy, but his doctor is concerned that perhaps it is not really sinus infections he has had. I cannot find on the internet where there is a connection between congestion/sinus symptoms and Valley Fever - curious about that as others have asked if he has been tested for it. We live in Phoenix. As a young child he had repeated ear infections, but 4 years ago at age 10 he had his tonsils and adenoids removed, tubes in his ears, and a major sinus surgery. He has been very healthy ever since until now. Any ideas? Thank you verey much!
