I am a 27 y/o female who had gastric bypass RNY surgery 3 years ago. Since then, I have had several but sparse reactive hypoglycemic episodes. However, since I had my son 6 weeks ago, I have been having these episodes about every 2-3 days, sometimes more often. Is there a reason for this maybe and could I be affecting my newborn son since I am breastfeeding him?

Thank you for your query.

Hypoglycaemic episodes is a side-effect of the gastric bypass surgery. However this is not going to effect your newborn.

As pregnancy and lactation is a stress on your body you will be having a tendency for frequent hypoglycaemic stresses. You should ensure that you...

My daughter is almost 38 wks pregnant & was just told on Tuesday that her doctor is concerned about her weight gain , or lack there of. She got pregnant 6 months after gastric bypass surgery . She was 177 lbs when she was about 6 wks & @ almost 38 wks now she only weighs 165. All the normal tests that are done during pregnancy are normal & the babys heartbeat has always been good. I guess what I would like to know is what are the doctors concerns ? If the baby hasn t gotten enough nutrients what could it mean for thin health wise? Could it affect his brain? My daughter is 35 years old & this is her first pregnancy. I m not sure where to begin researching this.
The general guideline for waiting is 18 months after surgery. Successful pregnancies, however, have been carried in women who were as little as 5 to 6 weeks post gastric bypass.

I noticed over the weekend a couple of my teeth are black around the base of the tooth. I'm 53 so my gums are starting to receed. I also have noticed a few other teeth with what appears to be a thin black line at the gum line. Any ideas? In addition, I had gastric bypass surgery last summer. All my blood test have shown my levels are fine but I'm wondering if perhaps I am deficient in some type of vitamin which may be causing this problem. Thank you.
Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

Black discolouration around the neck line of the teeth is due to hard deposits like calculus and stains.

I would advise you to visit your dentist once, and get it cleaned professionally.

Also you can use antiseptic mouth wash for fifteen days....

Since surgery there have been a few times where if I didn t chew well I felt it immediately in the vented of my stomach and at times vomited. Today was fer different and very painful. I still had Tramadol around and as soon as that kicked in I had relief. It has been 4 hours since and now I just feel sore in that area. And of course concerned of what might be the reason

After the leak and re-stapling after a gastric bypass surgery, there will be development of adhesion or collection and excessive scarification.
All these things give pain, nausea and vomiting.
