Questions and answers on "Cardiac surgery"

67 yr old male cardiac patient (with micro-valve replacement; now needs implantation of defibulator/pacemaker), is currently taking cumadine and needed dental work is prerequisite to this urgently needed cardiac surgery (previously treated at Memorial Hosp Med Ctr, Springfield, IL as indigent). Has no dental coverage, Oral Surgeon, or info as to where to turn. Cardiac surgery has been resch'd 2x and he has been told his heart is weakening each day and cannot continue to be delayed. He has been left to find resolve on his own - Patient is my bro who is attempting to prepare family for "the worst" thinking there is no recourse. LOOKING FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE!!!!!

Dear sir

Pace maker implantation is a life saving procedure so if it is clearly indicated then it needs to be done.

As there is no individual age restrictions for under going procedure it is recommended to undergo the procedure.

Thanks

what kind of pain is this , does it occur on exertion, does it relieves on rest, have you tried tab Sorbitrate 5 mg sublingually.
My suggestion is you try tab sorbitrate sublingually and if it's getting relieved on it, it can suggest cardiac origin. Also, You can try antacid like pantoprazole 40...

Now am scared with increasing age n plaaning to get married, will i be able to satisfy my wife by continuing these medications. My past relations have said sex was good with me but still worried as with some of the partners could not get strong erections at times n also if this continued drug use will have any adverse effects? Thanks......

doctor1 MD

HI,
THANKS FOR USING HEALTHCARE MAGIC.
THE DRUGS YOU ARE USING CAVERTA (SILDENAFIL) AND FORZEST (TEDALAFIL) ACTS IN A SIMILAR WAY (BLOCKING THE SAME ENZYME) AND HENCE THERE IS NO NEED TO TAKE BOTH THE MEDICATIONS.
THE SIDE EFFECTS OF THESE MEDICATIONS ARE HEADACHE, FLUSHING OF FACE, COLOURED...

She is suffering from severe sleeping disorder for more than 20 days... even after taking heavy sleeping dose she is not sleeping. she is not able to rest her head in the bed even just 5 min. how to get over this problem? which doctor i can contact in chennai?

doctor1 MD

Hi,

I understand your concern and would explain that it is important to differentiate between heart failure and a sleeping disorder, which can mimic this clinical situation.

For this reason, I recommend consulting first with her cardiologist for a physical exam, a cardiac ultrasound and NT pro...

My husband had quadruple bypass 2 years ago. After the surgery, but not because of the surgery, he had blood clots that caused him to return to the emergency room. Since then he has been fine except for a tiny little wet cough that is chronic. Sometimes he has this tiny cough even when he s mid sentence. Could this have anything to do with a clogged artery or blood clot.

My Brother is in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus Ohio. He has a problem with cervical spinal and lumbar stenosis. He had triple bypass surgery at least 20 years ago. He went to the emergency room and was admitted to the hospital. After some tests he a v Fib and was stabilizes with drugs. as the result he was transferred to the ICU. The next day they performed an angiogram and said he had a heart function of 50% and today they were to install a defibralator, but now they decieded against it and say he only has a 20% heart function and nothing can be done. Is this correct and do you have any suggestion for further treatment.

Hello - Just wondering....I am a 41 yr old female, born with an aortic stenosis. I am a healthy person, never ever go to the doctor except back in Jan 2001 I had an aortic root enlargement and aortic valve replacement with a bovine valve. I have felt awesome afterwards. I have an extremely stressful job (office work not physical) just wondering if what feels like depression, tiredness, both arms ache with physical activity. My left thumb has had two occasions last week where it was stuck in a gripped position and could not move it for a minute or two. I know I am stressed as my neck has knots and am using alot of ben gay and advil. My blood pressure is actually perfect so I am assuming that it is NOT my heart. That is what I have come to the conclusion and just wanted to double check as I don t want to go to the doctor. Wouldn t that be a good indicator that I am just fine and it is just stress?

I just took my blood pressure a few minutes ago. It was 95/65, with my heart rate being 90. I take two blood pressure meds. I have lost about 23 lbs. since January, on a low carb diet. Is it possible that the blood pressure meds are too much for me now? I also have mitral valve regurgitation, and see my cardiologist twice a year. I also started doing water aerobics three times a week, since January. I just want to make sure that this isn t too low now. Is this something I should be concerned about or is this okay?
