I had a lemon seed set stuck in my throat last night. After coughing a lot and almost throwing up a few times the seed moved to what feels like the bottom of my nasal passage way. I no longer feel it in my throat. Am not having trouble breathing. The only time I can feel it move is breathing in through my nose a certain way... but then my gag reflex kicks in and I swallow and the seed moves back to its resting place

doctor1 MD

Brief Answer:
Nasal endoscopy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. It is highly unlikely for a lemon seed to move back and forth in the nasal passage and not fall out of the nasopharynx back into the throat.

2. The lemon seed may have been forced into the nasopharynx or nasal cavity...

Hello, I am 29 yrs old male and of Taiwanese descent. For the past 13 months after a cold, I have been feeling pressure in both of my ears. Not the same as the feeling when flying in a plane but I feel a constant urge of wanting to pop my ears. The doctor who treated my cold said its a natural response after a cold and would subside within weeks but obviously it hasn't. I should note that I am a very allergic person and have rhinitis all my life. My nose is constantly blocked either on one side or both. I have seen several ENTs and they all said my nose and ear looks clear. However, 2 months ago a doctor put a scope inside my nose to check out my nasopharynx area and noticed that my adenoid is swollen. He said it doesn't look like Nasopharynx cancer but since I am having symptoms the only way to find out is to do a biopsy. I also told him I am doing an ongoing treatment for TMJ and my jaws pop very loud. He then said my problem is likely stemming from one of the two. There is also no Nasopharynx cancer in my family history. Couple weeks later I went to another hospital and the ENT also scoped me out. Saying adenoid still inflammed but does not look malignant. Ordered a EB virus blood test. Week after I got the report and I was positive for E-B VCA IgG Ab and E-B VCA IgA (albeit it seems like 99% of Taiwanese population is positive). However she said my readings for IgA ab was 1.45 which was abnormal (and said every hospital has their own standard). She then suggested for a biopsy and now I'm sitting here pondering whether I should have it done. I have been using a night guard when sleeping for TMJ and now my left jaw doesn't click anymore, and simultaneously, the left ear is no unplugged. My right jaw is still clicking and now the pressure is mostly on my right ear. I have no other symptoms of nasopharynx cancer besides this pressure from my ears (which may be associated with TMJ). Please provide some thoughts on where you think the problem may be. Thanks

doctor1 MD

Brief Answer:
You can wait!!

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Please dont worry as i think the popping and pressure are due to the adenoids or tmj disorder!

It is unlikely to be a cancer since you have been having this complaint for 13 months and have no other symptoms like neck swelling ( i am assuming...

My birth control pill feels as if it has gone up into my nasal cavity rather than down my throat. I took the pill about 11 and a half hours ago and still have this feeling. How can I stop this feeling. Is it likely that my pill has dissolved? I am married, but we are not planning on pregnancy for a few years.

Hello,

I'm having some troubles breathing from my nose. I do think I had my nose broken from getting it punched 10 years ago. I find it hard to get proper air when I breath from my nose. My left nostril feels worse then right. I went to see an ENT and he looked at my noise with a light and said its a deviated septum. He then said when do you want to book the surgey. The diagnosis took only 10 seconds and no other tests were done. He didn't check my adednoids which I mentioned to him that they might be oversized because my orthodontist said they looked like they were in the face x-Ray when I got my braces on years back. There were no other tests done, no camera down the nose. I'm just wondering if I should get a second opinion or should I just go through with the surgery with him? Is it that easy to diagnose? Is he ruleing out other things that might be an issue? Also I have a right collapsing nasal valve when I breath in hard. He said the deviated septum surgery will help or fix that as well.

Can u please tell me what my MRI means. Here are the findings; Multiple subcortical FLAIR foci involving predominately the frontal and parietal lobes without enhancement or periventricular lesions noted. These findings are greater than expected for the patient's age but are nonspecific although the lack of periventricular lesions would argue against a demyelinating process. Inflammatory, infectious, or traumatic processes could cause these lesions in addition to vascular etiologies. Currently there is no active enhancement or focal mass effect noted. If the patient's symptoms persist a follow-up examination to document stability of the findings may be helpful.
Probable mucous retention cyst noted in the nasopharynx which may result in some eustachian tube dysfunction and mastoid air cell
fluid on the right.

doctor1 MD

Brief Answer:
Lesions are generally non specific and only need follow up.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Hi...
My son, 8 yr old. He's sneezing for last 1 month like hell out of his nose, specially in the morning or evening. He sneezes 2-6 times in a row and around 5-6 times a day. I consulted Child specialist (MBBS/MD) and he diagnosed as sinusitis rhinitis, Rx'd Azithral for 2 days and Citrizine syrup 7 days. On follow-up, seeing no improvement, he suggested me to go to an ENT guy 'coz he thought some blocking of nostrils were seen.
I visited the ENT corner in the hospital where the Dr. suggested that the sneezing is all because of some allergy or cold and nostrils are okay but a little overgrowth of nasal bone and doesn't need to be treated 'coz the child is still growing and can't be operated.
He also prescribed some medicines mainly citrizine and multivitamin syrup.
It helps only when he continues his citrizine dose but on stopping it comes back. I've taken ample measure to tackle the possibilities of any allergy but in-vein.
Please help
