I have a very small knot in the area I just noted seems to be the Thoracic duct area.

It feels like a mosquito bite would although it doesn't itch. I thought it might be a tension knot although it's not hurting like one would hurt.

The reason I looked up lymphatic systems is that I had a malignant stage one tumor removed from my left breast November 2012.... followed by radiation through February 2013.

I just noticed this yesterday and it hasn't gone away. It isn't painful... it's just there.

doctor1 MD

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this knot. The acute onset of this knot makes it less likely to suggest a cancer related illness. It could be more of an allergic reaction or minor trauma. However, it is too early to make any conclusions. I will suggest that...

Hi,
I had a biopsy today on lymph nodes in my right axilla The surgeon removed one lymph node measuring 3.6 cm x 2.0 x 2.1. He said that it was a fatty lymph node. He did however, send the lymph node for pathology evaluation. Do I have anything to be worried about?

doctor1 MD

Thank you for asking!
Lymph nodes are filters for lymphatic systems which transfer the fats absorbed from gut to the body through lymphatics, so fat infiltration in lymph node is nothing to worry about , Just keeping the weight in control is advised. Biopsy and histopathology is a normal thing...

But why was bone marrow not weak in Mar? How far will it drop? If bone marrow test is more accurate than a full blood count, can leukemia cells be missed out still? What are the reasons for this drop in platelet counts? Is it true that there are patients who have dropping platelets but is not having a relapse? Will extraction one bone marrow weaken the bone marrow?

hi there, past few months i've had sharp pain around my saliva glands and both sides of my neck, and two weeks ago i started to cough every time i ate something, all of a sudden this morning i woke up with extreme pain in the base of my neck, like someone is choking me, it hurts to swallow and the pain is really bad i can't move my neck without it hurting, I'm 20 years old. The only known disease I have is PSCOS

doctor1 MD

Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for the query

After going through your history, it seems to be like you were having inflammation of the lymph nodes in the region of the submandibular salivary glands. The inflammation was the reason behind the sharp pain in that region. These lymph nodes are like policemen of...

Hello...I have a bump on my neck right where the side (my right side) of my neck and the back of my neck connect. It actually feels a bit like a vein as I can feel where it seem to start and then curves a bit and almost goes back into my neck. I push on it and with just a bit of pressure there seems to be no bump anymore...I release it and there it is again. I had a cold about three to four weeks ago and a cough since that is getting better. Recently had blood work for life insurance and nothing red flagged on that (got preferred rates). I am just wondering if this is just an inflamed gland/lymph node, if everyone had this type of bump, or if it is something to worry about. Any thoughts?

doctor1 MD

Hello
     Thanks for the query.

Bump or lump or swelling in the lower parts of neck can be due to many reasons. As there are many lymph nodes in the neck ,so first possibility comes to one mind is enlarged lymph node ( which can again be due to many reasons like infection, tuberculosis ,lymphoma...

My right groin lymph node is slightly enlarged and painful. Not serious pain but a dull uncomfortable pain. I had unprotected sex 6 weeks ago but I have never had any drip, puss, redness, itch, pimple, cyst or anything. Just this pain now. My doctor took my blood and is checking for chlamydia, HIV and syphilis. I haven't been sick and haven't lost weight. Everything has been very normal until this pain. I did fall down and scraped my knee around 5 weeks ago but that is the only time i can remember hurting myself. Is it possible to have a STD without having any other symptoms?

doctor1 MD

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

It is good that your doctor is testing you for STD’s like syphilis, Chlamydia and HIV. Although less likely for STD’s to present with only swollen lymph node and no other symptoms but since there is a history of unprotected intercourse in your case, so it is...

I have had a number of health issues for the past 4 weeks as follows: high blood pressure; neck lymph nodes swollen and lumps on back of head (dr. gave me antibiotics); fatigue; and just found a lump in the peyers patch region. 3 weeks ago I had lungs, heart, liver and kidneys checked (bloodwork) everything seems okay. My blood pressure is down to about 155/90 however I have never had high blood pressure in my life. Any Ideas what's going on?

doctor1 MD

Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for posting your query.

It is not normal to find swollen lymph nodes on the body. Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection. Did you suffer with any bacterial or viral infection recently? Other causes include allergic reactions,...

Would like to know more about the accuracy of finding blast cells in Complete blood count vs a bone marrow test

doctor1 MD

Hi Bemish,

Thanks for the query.

Blast cells are the precursor cells which would divide into two different types of cells and undergo maturation in bone marrow and these matured cells will circulate in the peripheral blood. Normally, it is very rare to find blast cells in Peripheral blood.

I am 20 years old. i am 5 5 and my weight was 121 pound but in just a few days i lost weight and i am at 115 pounds. I am currently taking lamotrigine pills. Last week i had flu like symptoms, the runny nose, fever, and sore throat. over the weekend i lost my voice and since then its been very hoarse. 3 days ago I found 3 lymph nodes, one on the bottom of each ear and one on the back of my head. They hurt alot. The next day another one came out in the back of my head and one by my ear. The lymph nodes dont hurt anymore but I have an itchy feeling on my right check by the lymph node and i get random sensation on my right arm and sometimes even headaches that trigger migraines. The pain from the lymph nodes have reduced but i still have a sore throat.

Hi I have hypercalcemia. I now have kidney damage from it. I am finally working with about 75% of my kidneys again after about 2 years of suffering and near death. I was never put on dialysis for it. I was also told that I do not have any sort of cancer. They think I got it from having an almost complete sedentary lifestyle. I am also in a wheelchair due to my right knee needing to be replaced and having lymphedema in both legs. My thighs are the size of tree trunks. I have lost almost 200 pounds on my own in the last year and a half and I have found a gym that has equipment, classes and water aerobics for people in a chair. I am still however hovering at about 400 pounds. I do not ever want to go back to where I was, but I still need to lose over 200 pounds. Finally, my question is, do you think it would be ok to have the gastric sleeve surgery done? If so, after I am healed from that and well on my way to being done with the weight loss, do you know of any surgeons that would remove these huge sacks of hanging skin from the insides of my thighs left from the lymphedema? I was told that the area was very vascular and hardly any surgeon would touch me to do that. After all of that I would finally get the knee replacement and skin removal surgery. Sorry this is so long. Thanks so much for your time and GOD bless you and yours for doing this. Melia Hicks

My husband was dx june 2010 with stage 4 nsclc. No spread to brain liver or any other vital organ but multiple lymph node involvment. He did have 2 1/2 liters of fluid removed at dx a year ago and talc was used then. My question is now he has began to have lower leg pitting edema. I requested doplar to rule out blood clots and that came back negative. What could be the cause of the edema and is CHF a concern if the fluid is present in lower extremities?
