my sister needs to give a stool sample because her doctor thinks she has a colon infection but she told me she tried cocaine with a few friends over the weekend and is afraid to give her stool sample thinking its going to show up and have her doctor think that's something she does on the regular which she doesn't so I've been looking online for answers for her and haven't found any so i figured i'd ask you.
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

If the doctor is sending the stool to the lab to evaluate infection this means that they would only be looking for any indicators of infection .This would include assessment of the colour, consistency, shape , odour and the presence of mucus in the stool....

Hi,I need a paeditrician to answer my query regarding my 15 months old child, My daughter is having loose motion and is passing watery stools 2 times in a day, Today I got stool test done and there are 0-3 /hpf pus cells diagnosed, Is it normal or something to worry about?
Watery diarrhea is most commonly due to a bacterial or viral infection. Most important part of the issue is to ensure proper re-hydration so that that there is no dehydration due to the loss of fluids in the body. For that ORS along with home based hygienic fluids like milk, butter milk, tender...

My almost three year old son has had green diarrhea for twelve days now. Other than that he has seemed fine. I took him to walk in on day seven, sent a stool sample on day nine and now am waiting for an appointment with our Dr. In four days. The last two days he has seemed less energetic and grumpier. Today he has mentioned several times that his tummy hurts. Should I be taking him to emerge, clinic, or wait till our appointment?
Hi there.

Thanks for writing in.

Can you tell me what was the result of the stool sample. Have they detected any bacteria/ parasites?

In any case with diarrhoea of 12 days duration and the fact that the child is tired, fatigued and with tummy aches, it would be better if you take the child to the...

Stool test result of 4 year old kid boy: please interpret Occult - positive Mucus - negative Yeast cells - moderate Blood gross - negative RBC - 2-4/hpf No ova or parasites seen His CBC showed RBC - 4.74 Hemoglobin - 13.5 Lymphocytes - 50.1 Monocytes - 7.9 Eosinophils - 8.9 Basophils - .9 Is he having bleeding inside, because I strongly believe that the blood is due to fissure only. He first had constipation and now his stool is hard at first but soft in the end. The doctor said no fissure because when she inserted her finger there s no blood. He s been having this for weeks now. Please help me, thanks. I add apple juice on his consumption, and now he poop and his poop is soft and no visible blood.

Hi Doctors, My son is 3 months old and since birth he passes teaspoon of sticky watery substance very frequently apart from the regular stools . Especially, when he stretches his body etc watery substance comes out. We did stool culture test etc, things are normal. Also please let us know when should we give any medications to the infants below 6 months, is it after feeding milk or before feeding milk. any syrup , vitamins drops, etc... thank you - RK
If the baby is on breast feeding then they frequently pass a small amount of watery stool as they do not have adequate control over the anal sphincter.

Vitamins are usually given with feeds.

my husband has a cyst on his kidney with some brown discoloration. we are seeing a specialist at a cancer facility for treatment. he also has many intestinal issues including severe gas, soft stools or liquid stools, is extremely tired and hasn t felt good for a long time. he has had many tests, including c-t scans, endoscopy, blood work, etc. they continue to find nothing, but have recently done a stool sample and we are waiting for results. is it possible they could be related.

Polycystic kidney disease has association with other systems. We do not know if your husband suffers from one. it would be interesting to know if he has family history of PCKD. Highly unlikey that your husband has a serious problem given the list of tests are superlatives like CT scan and...
