What is Serum cholesterol?

Serum cholesterol is the level of total cholesterol in serum.The normal range for serum cholesterol is below 200 mg/dl.Levels above 200 mg/dl is called hypercholesterolemia and its is a risk factor for developing heart diseases, hypertension and diabetes mellitus. It is cured by drugs called statins.
