Hi. Im 56. Ive worked on constuction sites all my life. Heavy lifting,on my feet all day carrying, etc. My feet get tired and a little painful now every day if im on them for more than a few hours. Ive had to stop most everyday activities that involve me being on my feet, including everyday household tasks and things like shopping. My feet take a few mins in the morning "to get going". I cant walk any distances now because it will result in my having to sit down, . Ive had exrays for arthritus and all ok. I take glocosamine, codliver oil, and multi vitamins and have done for several months but the symptoms are the same..If im with my grandchildren, i have to be careful about how much i run around with them, and if we go shopping, i usually find a chair and rest whilst my wife does the shopping. .... any idears??? regards bill

Hi, I am using Micardis 80mg tablets for high blood pressure and I would like to use Glucosamine 1500 Complex to assist in repair of a injured shoulder. the Glucosamine 1500 Complex tablets also contain potassium. Can this be a potential problem or risk.

doctor1 MD

Hi,
There are no recorded interactions between Micardis and glucosamine. The amount of potassium in the glucosamine complex is low and will easily be managed by your kidneys. Therefore, you can take these two drugs together.

I've been on Glucosamine for about 20 yrs 1500gr a day and where as my mother had 2 hip prosthesis at the age of 50 & 51 I managed to get to 77yrs before I had mine done. I put this down to Glucosamine as I'm sure it stopped my joints getting stiff although the pain of the arthritis was evident, being able to get in and out of bed and chairs was no problem because my joints moved smoothly. This was supplied free from my consultant in Spain but now I'm back UK they wont prescribe it and the price in the health shops & chemist I just can't afford on a pension, for the little bottle of 30 x 30mgs @

I m an 80 yr. old male and have been on warfarin for years with no problems. P/T 2 days ago was 2.5. First and second urination today was bloody. Never had this problem before except as result of prostate cryosurgery in 2008, which was only temporary. Subsequent PSA tests were 0.05, 0.50 and 0.73. I m on no other presciption medications and very active (tennis). I take daily supplements of vitamin C, glucosamine w/msm, B-50 complex, and selenium. If it might be a factor, I did 3 hours of yard work yesterday, primarily involving pruning of rose bushes.

I never had PCS growing up. I am a 34 year old male, and started taking a supplement of Glucosamine 1500 mg + MSM 1500 mg (2 tablets is the total dosage) daily. While taking this supplement, I started having sharp chest pains, and didn t know if I was going to die of a heart attack. I did figure out that if I took a deep breath, I would feel a sudden pop, and the pain would go away. I am so glad taking the deep breath worked, because the pain was crazy. This would give me relief for a while, until I got another episode (around a couple a day). After going through this for days, I decided to try and stop taking the supplement, along with the multi-vitamin I was taking, and the PCS completely stopped. I have not had any since I stopped taking them. I just wanted to see if you thought this may be some information that could be used to isolate a certain chemical that may be elevated in some people that may trigger episodes of PCS. Thanks.
