Tocolytic

What is Tocolytic?

It is a group of medicines which delay the onset of labour. There are times when womb can start to evacuate the baby earlier than 9 months of pregnancy. To prevent this drugs are given that slow down womb contractions. However there are also side effects associated with their use like palpitations, dry mouth, fall or raise in BP.They should be used with extreme caution as fetal death can occur.
