Questions and answers on "Tamsulosin"

Hi Dr Samuel I have three questions :
1. Can some one take tamsulosin for a mild enlarge prostrate and natural vegetables llke celery, tomatoes punkin-seed pomegranate at the same time.
2. My doctor had prescribed tamsulosin in summer of 2012 because of regular urination. After taking the first tablet I did not like how my body was reacting so I didn't use any more and the pee improve automatically. But 3 months after some minor irritation in my testes I use the pills even though not every day. About six month later I found out about the Natural treatment in question one and held off the pills for the natural treatment. They worked better than the pills and really boosted up my libido and sexual drive from June last year until my prostrate act up again two weeks ago which I must explain . In January until mid February I was not in the USA and I did not find the time to get my natural product, nevertheless I was still ok. about two weeks ago I bought ' Digel ' from the pharmacy over the counter for gas treatment (contents were magnesium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide). Five days after taking it I find I began to pee frequently every 1/2 hour. When I stop using the Digel I pee at a rate-SPACING of some times 1&1/4, 1&1/2 hr,1&3/4 hr, or even 2 hrs . I started to use the tamsulosin again after 3 days of pee symptoms and back on my natural remedies too. I began getting minor pains in my testes from Friday night. My made an appointment to see a urologist with in two weeks. My question is will the mild pain go away on this treatment plan or I have to ask my DR for a more effective pill. ? My last PSA ratio was 1.0 ref range = 4.0 dated (9/13).
3. Is there any better recommendation to stabilize my peeing and alleviating the pain.

I am taking maintainance drug exforge 5mg/160mg in the AM & half tablet of amplodipine 5mg at 6PM. It,s been alright until recently I was having problem urinating due to my enlarged prostate that’s why I saw a urologist & phe prescribed me Tamsulosin 0.4mg. which was to be taken at bedtime. I have taken the medicine twice & I had this problems when I woke in the morning: my blood pressure was 110/69 w/ heart rate of 51-55, plus I’m having problem breathing thru my nose it seem like it’s clogged everytime I took the Tamsulosin. With this experience I was advice my doctor to wait until my BP was at least 130/something then I can take amplodipine, however what I did was I took exforge in the evening about 8PM (usually taken in the AM) but I had a headache but my blood pressure at a normal. When I woke up in the morning I took 5mg Amplodipine & my BP was ok till bedtime, however I took tamsulosin again at bedtime & got the same symptoms that I had before. Now I’m planning of stopping my prostate meds & just continue with my maintenance. Please advice me on how I’m going deal with the discrepancies caused by the prostate meds.

I have been diagnosed with BPH. My prostate is 2X the normal size. I am taking Avodart and Flowmax. I had a hip replacement 3 years ago and am otherwise in good health. Is Cooled Thermotherapy an appropriate treatment? Will it affect sexual activity?

My husband has enlarged prostate and takes Tamsulosin 0.3 mg (Flomax). He was having lots of bladder or urinary infections before he started the medicine. He also has some tumors in the kidneys that his urologist keeps check on, and has been wanting him to have anther fish test, which he had one in 2012. He has had a melanoma on his face and they found another cancer under it (some kind of carsanoma). His father had one kidney (the other shrunk up pin a ball) and his grandmother died from cancer that I believe began in her kidney. Recently he went back for a checkup and his urologist told him he had found a pathologist that took BlueCross Blueshield of MS and it came back normal. BlueCross Blueshield denied the claim because they said it was not medicaly necessary. Do you think with his history and family history it was medically necessary?

my husband was diagnosed with a 2mm stone in the mid left ureter approx 10 days ago. Was prescribed Flomax, Cipro and Percocet. He has had minimal problems since but has not passed stone that we can tell (has strained urine but not religiously). This morning, he is having more flank pain and feels the need to urinate but has only be able to minimally. He has taken a Percocet with minimal relief. Is it time for another trip to the emergency room? He is getting increasingly uncomfortable and has not urinated a significant amount for 8+hours.
