Dear any endocronoligists!

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
Oxandrolone is known to prevent normal growth in children as it causes premature closure of the bone ends where growth occus. Children who take oxandrolone may end up shorter than their counterparts. Thats why serial X rays are done for children who are prescribed...

hi. I was prescribed some oxandrolone, 2.5mg daily for 3 months, when i was 14 and half years old. This was to give me a boost in height. I was offered also low dose testosterone but refused as didnt want unnatural pubertal progression - just height boost was required and oxandrolone was my choice. I want to ask, just in case the tablets i took when i was younger was not 2.5mg but say 10mg oxandrolone.....would there be that much of extra influence on pubertal development from the 10mg daily for 3 months? (i heard 10mg oxandrolone is prescribed for women in certain circumstances)

doctor1 MD

Brief Answer:
Yes, it has effect on gonadotropic functions.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for your query.

I have gone through your query and understood your concern. In my opinion, taking high dose of oxandrolone for 3 months will definitely influence on pubertal development because oxandrolone...

What steroids make a person really really big? Like, I've heard of nandrolone, stanozolol, testosterone, trenbolone, oxandrolone.... Which ones make you, you know, really big? Sheer size? Which ones dont?

doctor1 MD

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.

Steroids are classified as mineralocorticoids and glucocorticoids.

Also Anabolic steroids are the ones which make you big. Testesterone and dihydrotestosterone are the natural anabolic steroids in the body. They increase protein synthesis within cells which results in...

Hi,

I went to see growth specialist when 14.5 years old. after wrist xray test, blood test (for hormones?) and testis exam (No access to these records as destroyed in fire!), i was told that good news was there is no disease with me except for delayed growth/puberty. I was offered treatment but refused as we decided to 'wait' for 3 months to see if theres progress in my condition. 3 months later we went back and agreed to start oxandrolone. The physician referred to it as 'growth hormone' as it only fixes growth and DOESNT affect puberty which is partly why i agreed. Now im reading things like it's possible to mature the HPG axis and induce puberty etc.... My areas of concern are as follows:

From the data above, was there any ENDOGONOUS andro activity gonadal or otherwise?

Does a short course 2.5mg once daily oxandrolone induce central puberty or progress of central puberty?

doctor1 MD

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Answer1. Yes there was most probably some endogenous gonadal androgen production as without which only anabolic steroids ( oxandrolone ) could not induce puberty.

Answer2. Yes a short (3 month) course of oxandrolone can cause increased growth velocity and...

Hello. This question is for an endocronoligist.

I went on short course oxandrolone treatment when i was a child aged 14 and a half, during beginning of puberty, to have growth.

I am now concerned about their effects.

I know the side effects of oxandrolone given in Cdgp boys clear up quickly. But what about the supposed 'desirable effects' such as stimulating growth, stimulating progress of HPG axis......THESE EFFECTS REMAIN FOREVER & DO NOT CLEAR

Or is there another way of looking at it. Any opinions?

Regards

doctor1 MD

Oxandralone is synthetic testosterone analog. The effects are short lived or brief, very few days. The side effects are rare. This is safely used.

Since it is short lived there is no question of side effects after so many years.

Hope this...

hello Doctor,

Topic: peadeatric endocronology

BACKGROUND: I would like to ask if LH and testosterone is present, albeit in small quantities, in delayed puberty boys at chronological age of 14.5 years old. This is the age i commenced my 3month course of low dose oxandrolone treatment to increase height. This initially failed. after a 2month break i was given another 3month course by which time i was 15 years old. By 15 1/4 my testicles dropped and i grew a total of 9 cm. MY QUESTION: Is it possible to comment if LH and Testosteorne was being produced , albeit in small quantities due to CDGP at beginning of first oxandrolone course aged 14.5 OR with my background, is it possible that gonadotropins and testosterone were completely non-existent at 14.5 Please help me, Thanks in advance

Dear r,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

At the time your steroids treatment was begun, I am sure your blood levels of gonadotropins must have XXXXXXX done, as also your pubertal levels. Could you...

Hi, what impact does short course of low dose oxandrolone have on boy in mid-childhood , especially on his gnrh pulse generator?

I was told that even at this stage of life, Gnrh pulses exist along with baseline hormone levels, as hypothalamic centers are being expressed....is this true?

Regards

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Before answering this question I want to know the exact age of this boy.

Gonadotrophin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) pulse generator is under suppression till the age of puberty.

It is suppressed by many body neural inhibitory mechanisms.

At the start...

Hi there, I am wondering if taking oxandrolone which has been proven to help cancer patients to gain weight would affect thyroid hormone level. I am currently taking Synthroid 175 mcg and my family doctor has no idea about this. There is one idea that it may induce clinical hyperthyroidism in one study but the manufacturer s insert does not indicate as such.

Hello, I took anavar low dose (5mg) around the time I conceived my child. Yet there were some days I missed here and there. I stopped anavar completely right after I ovulated thinking there was a chance of pregnancy and I didn t want to risk it. Could I have caused harm to the fetus even if I stopped right around the time of fertilization?
