Questions and answers on "Folic acid"

Hi, I am on HCQ 200mg daily and Methotrexate 7.5 once a week with folic acid once a week, to treat RA. I am wondering if the Folic Acid is adequate or if I need to take folic acid everyday. It is a year now since I started this treatment. Please tell me if the amount of folic acid I take is enough.

you can take folic acid 5 mg once a week next day to methorexate, or folic acid 1.5 mg alternate day except the day of methorexate

My daughter takes 400 mcg Folic acid supplement daily while taking 15mg (6 - 2.5 tablets) Methotrexate every Friday night. Last night she mistakenly took 6 of the folic acid tablets instead of the methotrexate. We just discovered this when she returned from staying the night with her father. It has not made her sick. I gave her the methotrexate tonight.
Is this large quantity of folic acid a problem?

Hi Young lady. Per se Folic acid has no effect on menstruation. I would advice you both to visit a Gynecologist for both of you should go certain tests to see the cause of delayed periods as well as find and treat the cause of infertility. In the meanwhile do continue folic acid.

Also, will consuming folic acid from 16th week cause any problems. Though I have visited gynecologist and is medicating as per his instruction. Also suggest when to take iron and calcium tablets... or any other.
