Amitiza

What is Amitiza?

Amitiza (lubiprostone) increases the secretion of fluid in your intestines to help make it easier to pass stools (bowel movements). Amitiza is used to treat chronic constipation, or constipation caused by opioid (narcotic) pain medicine. It may also be used to treat irritable bowel syndrome in women with constipation as the main symptom. Amitiza is for use only in adults.
