What is Vocal cord dysfunction?

Vocal cords are used for phonation and prevent aspiration of contents into lungs. If any disease effect these like congenital or aquired, vocal cords do not function properly. There are so many causes for this condition like trauma to vocal cards directly during procedures, tumors involving nerves supplying vocal cards, infections, accidents,etc.
