What is Tuberous sclerosis?

Tuberous sclerosis is an autosomal recessive disorder. It is characterized by mental retardation, skin lesions and kidney tumor. Mental retardation is due to presence of cortical tubers, a specific astrocytoma called sub-ependymal giant astrocytoma.
