Tricuspid insufficiency

What is Tricuspid insufficiency?

Tricuspid insufficiency is a sequel of rheumatic carditis. There is a valve between right atrium(RA) and right ventricle(RV) This valve allows flow of impure blood from RA to RV. This has to close when RV pumps blood into pulmonary artery. But because of damage due to rheumatic fever it will not close properly. This gives rise to back flow of blood from RV to RA when RV contracts.
