It doesn't get any more ironic than this . . . I swallowed cough medicine down the wrong pipe. Couldn't get air for a couple seconds . . . maybe 3 or 4 seconds. Then had coughing fit for a good 20 minutes or so. Urge to cough not nearly as bad as it was at first. Breathing is fine. But windpipe feels "irritated" mostly so still having some urge to cough. Would there be any long term affects from this? I'm thinking syrup in the lungs isn't a good thing!

2 days ago my 10 year old daughter started coughing as she was eating. She only coughs when she eats and after the meal it stops. Drinking water does not help. She does not have trouble swallowing while eating. She says nothing is stuck in her throat and can't explain why she is coughing. Any ideas?
