Testicular torsion occurs when testicles rotate on spermatic cord resulting in stoppage of blood supply which results in sudden pain and swelling of testis. Prolonged torsion results in death of testicle and surrounding tissues.

So I think I have testicular torsion. They say it's an emergency and all but I feel as though I've had it as long as I can remember. On my left side it feels as though my spermatic cord is very twisted. And again it has been this way for quite some time. I also did the cremasteric reflex test (though rather unprofessionally) and it seemed to work on the unaffected side but not the left. I have never felt any out of the ordinary pain though the testicle does lay almost vertical at times. Any advice?

Hi, I'm 19, 6'2" about 180 or so lbs and am concerned I may have testicular torsion. The pain/discomfort is mild and has gradually increased over a day or two. I have scheduled an appointment with my doctor at 3:40 pm, and it is 7:43 am right now. I'm wondering if it is okay that I wait or if I should seek immediate treatment.

Hi. First, the torsion of the testis develops as a acute, severe pain and it does not increase over two days, it is at its maximum from the beginning. Torsion of the testis is a surgical emergency and requires immediate scrotal exploration.
So, in your case, it does not seems to be a torsion...

Hello, and thanks for your question.

Erectile dysfunction is best treated with the medication Viagra (sildenafil). This is very likely to improve your erection quality and duration. I would talk with a local doctor about prescribing this to you.

In the future, for continuity of care, I encourage...

My son has only one testicle (the other was undesended and had to be removed when he was 6, he is now 11). This morning he woke with acute pain in his testicle. I took him to the nearby emergency room (not the children's hospital in our city) and they performed an ultra sound and ruled out testicular torsion. He was given morphine while there. We went home, but he is still in considerable pain. I am very concerned that he may have been misdiagnosed and torsion might still be an issue. Further, he was hit in the testicle 6 days ago (his friend accidently hit him with his hand pretty hard and there was extended pain and swelling). He was PAIN FREE for 5 days prior to pain begining this morning. Should I take him to the children's hospital? should I still be worried?

my 16 year old son had sudden severe pain in his right testicle yesterday. A friend took him to urgent care where they thought torsion. After the exam and manipulation he felt a bit better and the swelling went down by half. At the ER the MD did very little exam. He ordered an untrasound which showed inflammation. Today, 24 hours later he was still complaining and finally showed me his testicle. It was swollen and a lot higher than the other one. He also complained about pain in his lower right abdomen. I held the testicle in my hand (softly) and twisted it outwards. Immediately the pain was gone and the testicle was in its right place. Do you think he had a partial torsion, what should we do for follow-up?

Hello, I am 14 years old, and for the past two days i have had a dull aching pain in my right testicle. My left one use to be hanging lower than my right one, but now it's the opposite. I don't feel any lumps. It's not hurting excruciatingly, or severely, I think I might have hurt it a little bit. Also, I don't think that it's testicular torsion, otherwise it would hurt really bad right? I weigh 123 lb, and I have had an apendectomy, and 11 stitches in my right arm.
