unfortunately, there is no cure of RA,

thanks. just wondering if low haemoglobin can cause joint pain. my dad has had severe joint pain for a few weeks. prescribed valium, now prednisone. helping a bit. yesterday strong chest pain, possibly angina. had ECG nothing abnormal. his haemoglobin is low and he has never had anaemia related problems before?

doctor1 MD

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Anemia is not probably the cause of joint pain.
Joint pain can occur due to joint related disorders like trauma, arthritis which can be inflammatory or autoimmune.
Response to steroids (prednisone) suggests the joint problem to be autoimmune in nature.
Low hemoglobin or...

My 3 1/2 yr old son has been having severe joint pain along with a rash. He gets hives over his joints and everyday is somewhere new. By the end of the day he limps and sometimes can't walk. He has had one purpura rash on his stomach which led the Dr. To test for Mono and it was positive. Small red dots appear all over him with activity. He has seen a rheumatologist but she said all his blood work looked good. It breaks my heart watching him in pain. The everyday pain is in his knees but at night the ankles and back of knee hurts. Even his hand and wrist.

doctor1 MD

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The severe joint pain along with the rash can be due to rheumatic fever. This needs to evaluated by his pediatrician and proper treatment needs to be started at the earliest.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
Regards,
Dr....

I am a medical assistant and the Dr I work for said he has no idea what the rash is or what caused it. I have not changed anything in my daily routine. no one else in my house has it. my Dr thinks it may be viral and said to give it 7-10 days but it is getting worse to the point that I m in tears. I need help

I have a history of pericarditis, pericardial effusion, pleurisy, pleural effusion all of that within 3 1/2 months starting in 2007. Sed rate at it s highest was 200, wbc at it highest 24500, positive for anemia, pos protein in urine, neg ana. Never diagnosed with anything and ruled out fmf, cancers, all the usual suspects. Was told probably inflammatory process likely due to autoimmune. I am still having symptoms, severe joint pain in knees which just started 3 months ago, still difficulity breathing a couple times per week (but lungs are clear) last anywhere from 20 minutes to 4 hours, now smelly foamy urine. Any ideas?
