Retained placenta

What is Retained placenta?

The placenta is the organ that attaches a baby to the womb and provides all of its nourishment. After you give birth to the baby the placenta detaches and is pushed out of the birth canal also. Sometimes the placenta does not detach naturally and it needs to be removed by an obstetrician. If you have a miscarriage then sometimes the placenta can also be retained and needs to be removed surgically.
