What is Renal failure?

Renal failure also called renal insufficiency is the inability of the kidneys to perform its normal functions of excreting waste products from the body. There are many causes of renal failure:Diabetes,uncontrolled hypertension are most common causes.

My daughter is 40 years old took her to the ER ,she was diagnosed with C-diff .they did blood work and said her creatine level was 5.7 they gave her fluids and did a kidney biopsy ,her creatine level went down to 3.8,sent her home waiting for the results ,the discharge papers said she has Renal Failure ,I need to find a good Kidney doctor can you help me?

my mum has end stage renal failure i dont have her exact test results but she has been in hospital 3 times this years with severe confusion and now she is going into a resthome, she is under conservitive care .....want to know does this mean she does not have long to live?

Dr. My Dr. recently changed my Glucotrol 10 mg for Amaryl 4mg 2X/daily. I have CHF,Have a pacer defib. implanted-stents,am overweight,have stage 3 Kidney Failure, 58 yrs. old, have been hypoglycemic in my 20's-rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis,& Gout. Female. Also have Hep C & acid reflux. I don't think this drug is for me & am afraid to take it. Any suggestions?

My mom is a renal failure patient she has three coronary arteries that are blocked and the one that is working is leaking they first wanted to do a bypass however her platelet count dropped and now they want to put three stents in why have they changed the plan

This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist.
Low platelet count is a contraindication for any surgery especially a major surgery like bypass. Low platelet count can cause massive bleeding & thus a threat to life.
This is why they have advised you against bypass. But still angioplasty also needs giving...

The symptoms that is being stated here by you, is not because of renal failure but this could be due to stress level that you might be having and in my opinion try to keep the stress level very low, and be positive, hope this information helps.

Hi, my 4 year old son skin smells foul, it started yesterday, his breath also smells, I am really worried because I smelt the same smell on my gran that suffered from renal failure. I have bathed him and sprayed him but the smell is too strong to disguise.

Hi...strong body odours are usually suggestive of inborn errors of metabolism. Renal failure wouldn't cause a strong body odour. But inborn errors of metabolism might cause renal failure. So I suggest you consult your pediatrician and get the baby evaluated for inborn errors of metabolism....

D.S.Raju - from Nigeria I have previous history of kidney stones in both kidney and treated with cystone . max stone size 5.5mm and i was affected thrice in last 15 years. now i am following symptoms and currently in warri, nigeira where there are no great facilities. Now i am feeling symptoms of renal failure.I was last diagnosed kidney stones in aug2009 and i consumed medicines cystone for two months and discontinued. later i have done any sonography. I was also treated with medicines for Urinary tract infection & propstate gland infection in past. My presetn symptoms increased frequency of urination - mostly in nights 2-3 times some times burning in urin & bowels not vomit so far slight pain in left kidney and more the feeling of freezeness & burning sensation near left kidney area gas formation in stomach and tight bladder in the morning slight diziness and weakness fluctuating energy levels feeling comfort with low diet metallic taste feeling in mouth sometimes urin color varies mostly normal white when consuming more water otherwise pale yellow no cramps feeling Pl.suggest On monday iam planning for blood test & sonography
