So your symptoms are mostly due to GERD only.
It is due to laxity of gastroesophageal sphincter.
Because of...

Hi I have gastreoreflux disease and was told that I shouldn't drink coffee, eat chocolate, anything that has caffeine, fried froods, and spicy or acidic foods. I know that omega-3 fatty acids are essential in treating GERD. I wonder if any of the foods that I listed above interact with omega-3 fatty acids? thanks bye

doctor1 MD

Hi

Thanks for writing in

Your knowledge about your disease is appreciable

It is not the Omega 3 fatty acids interactions but the inherent quality of these foods that they stimulate more acid production - is the reason you are asked to avoid them

Hope this helps
Do write back in case of concern...

Hi, my mother has been using concor 5mg tablet since last 3 years, she had also back pain surgery a year ago... now a days she has dry cough which irritates her throat. Meanwhile she is feeling muscle aches both in back and in legs. She has also using omeprazrole 40 mg and domperidone 10 mg for GERD . I need to ask is dry cough due to concor? as she does not have a history of asthma.

doctor1 MD

Hello
Usual side effects of concor are Giddiness, headache, fatigue, bradycardia, nausea, dyspnoea, sleep disturbances, cold extremities, reduced libido.
Concur doesn't cause  dry cough.
There must be some other reasons for her cough which should be explored by the doctor.
Thanks

Hi,
I recently had gastroscopy done which revealed a Hiatus Hernia with Grade A Reflux Esophagitis and H. pylori negative Gastritis affecting the antrum of the stomach.
The histopathology report showed features suggesting gastro-oesophageal reflux disease without oesophagitis.
The gastric biopsy showed chemical/reactive gastritis, suggestive of bile reflux or drugs (NSAIDS).
I am wondering why the histopathology report is not entirely consistent with the gastroscopy report itself (one suggests oesophagitis and the pathology report does not).
Also, how is bile reflux detected?
Do these conditions have a high likelihood of bleeding?
Lastly, how is the level of liver toxicity detected and does my fatty liver condition cause greater liver toxicity?

doctor1 MD

Hello! Thanks for putting your query in XXXXXXX I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).

Ans 1: Grade A reflux esophagitis on gastroscopy suggest there were few small erosion at lower end of esophagus. Histopathology report did not show esophagitis but showed gastroesophageal disease!? I am also...

Helo Sir,

I am Md. Muzammel Haque. I am from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I am 35 years old. I married and have 2 children. My height is 5 feet 5 inches and weight 63 kg. I am doing job in a NGO. For nature of my job I have to eat and drink outside all the time. I take tea more then 2 cups a day (also green tea as well). My father died 2003. I am the elder son in my family. I have my mother, 2 brothers and 1 sister in my family. I have gastric problems since 15 years. 1st few years I took antacid tablets frequently (3 or 5 times a day that gave me temporally relieve). After that my condition becomes critical.

Then I took advice a doctor he gave me some ranitidine Esomeprazole group tablets. I took those couple of months (that time I did endoscopy nothing found serious). But then my condition becomes worst.

I am now feeling discomfort and severe pain in stomach every time especially at bed time.
Usually, the pain is accompanied by frequent release of gas as well as some painful sensation in the chest area.

Recent for 5 or six months I feel long heartburn, severe chest and stomach pain which also reaches my back (pain doesn’t go away when I took medicine), extremely gas formation in stomach, malaise and flatulence, frequent release of gas (specially when my stomach is empty), suffering from Colic, indigestion and constipation (my stools very hard and have very bad smell), inflammation in chest, frequent cough, gastroesophageal reflux, keep losing weight. Some time when I drink water feeling sensation of wanting to vomit and desire to vomit a few minutes after eating.

Then I again went to doctor last month. I did ultrasono nothing found serious but a mild prostrate enlargement. He gave me tetracycline for 7 days, rebipragol sodium INN 20mg and peppermint oil 250 mg daily 2 times for 2 months.

I took those medicines for 1 month but not feeling good at all.
Now my condition getting more then worst.

Now I am feeling extremely exhausted and weak all the time.
Please give me some advice and effective medicine for me.

Thanking you

Muzammel
