Pott disease

What is Pott disease?

This is a type of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis. TB of the spine is known as Pott disease, also known as Tuberculous spondylitis. The TB bacilli affect the vertebrae and intervertebral discs also. This causes collapse of spine, causing hunchback. Diagnosed by tuberculin test, biopsy, X ray and CT scan.

In Pott's disease, sometimes the treatment with anti tubercular drugs may have to be continued for upto one year...

I had L4/L5 disc herniation 6 weeks back. Doc gave pain killers and pragabalin. As per MRI the nerve dia was 11mm....
