30 yr. old female, diagnosed with bipolar/borderline personality disorder/major depressive disorder. Currently on viibryd 40mg. at supper time & 10mg zolpidem tartrate at bedtime. She has been experiencing a hallucination of a strong feminine odor usually starting at midday, progressively getting worse toward evening. Also having severe jaw pain. With all this she also gets thoughts of hurting herself but says she tries hard to get those thoughts out of her head. She has had numerous hospital stays because of suicide attempts. She has had lots of ECT's but doesn't want more of those because of how they affect her memory. She works part-time. Has an employer who has been extremely understanding of her very complicated illness. Currently living with my husband & I cuz she also is raising her 4 yr. old son on her own. Current psychiatrist is quite unavailable to discuss much with us, just wants to do ECT's and not be bothered. Frankly, if she & her son did not live with us, I don't know where she would be. We live on pins & needles, trying to be loving & understanding but we're not perfect & get easily discouraged ourselves. Continue to hold onto our faith in God's guidance. What is your comment about this situation???

I was diagnosed with a number of mental health illnesses/diagnosis about 10 years ago now. major depressive disorder/borderline personality disorder/dependent personality disorder/emotionally unstable personality and Generalised Anxiety Disorder. Generally when I am in a depressive lockdown/episode I am unable to move and verbally communicate. My first question is; Is this normal for a diagnosis of major depressive disorder?

My second question is: Some mornings when the carers come into my flat to wake me up and get me up; they have difficulty waking me. Sometimes I am asleep. Sometimes I look like I am asleep because my eyes are shut; however I have difficulty opening them then I have difficulty verbally communicating with the carers. Is this part of major depressive disorder or could it be something else?

I have had Serotonin Syndrome twice as I have Major Depressive Disorder , Recurrent, Severe and Treatment Resistent and also Chronic Migraines, plus many other musco-skeletal issues in my neck and advanced stage TMG. I could keep listing diagnises, but wont. I have had an intractable migraine for 4 weeks, so this week my Neuro has put me on 2 doses of 300mg of Neurontin a day. Currently I am taking 20 mg of Celexa , just went off of 5 mg of Abilify and 60 mg of Straterra as I need a break from the side effects. I couldn t get a definitive answer at the pharmacy.

doctor1 MD

Hi there, thanks for asking. Many medications should be used cautiously with Celexa. Combination of many medications with celexa can cause serotonin syndrome. Many medications which abort migrain should not be taken with celexa for avoiding the serotonin syndrome. Serotonin noradrenergic reuptake...

About a year ago, I was bullied by a group of people due to their job insecurity feeling. I am an introvert female, who was much interested in work, spoke to few people at work. There were one lady co worker who started at these. She was one of the few people I used to interact and go for lunch together, etc. She, in front of group of coworkers, started pointing out my negatives, that is, I used to come late at work than other coworkers. Another couple of ladies, joined her in insulting me in front of group of people face to face as well as in whatsapp group. In these, one lady used to forcefully take help from me, also make me look like a subordinate in front of other people in whatsapp group, she also told me to ignore what everyone says and don't show any reaction.Another lady told me I was told what I am supposed to hear. There is another lady who smartly answers according to people and situation, for example when some one says they know something, she says she knows too. There was another lady who calls the other people fools if the other person is not up to her mark. And I have a client manager who doesn't care about what happens in the team, he only cares overall end results. I was abused by all the above people at a time, and I felt hopeless. I also had some kind of body shakings after that for few months. Thought I am required from the body shakings, I completely feel hopeless, lost, wandering, not able to focus on work, etc. I am now moved out of the project. My client manager had communicated to my manager saying I don't take initiatives even though I have lots of experience in that project.More than 5 years of experience in that project has gone waste now. I am not able to control my mind, I am feeling lazy and hopeless, not able to bring back my passion. I am understanding that everything is in the mind, and I have some mind blockers, there are many people who face a lot serious problems and mine is nothing, but I am not able to lift myself and get up. Now, I am in a state that, for each and every small thing I get angry or feel embarrassed. As everyone has, even myself had several bitter life experiences including difficult childhood like abusing parents, etc., In studies, I have been average student. I always believe in straight forward ways, morals, God, karma, long term, win win, life purpose, etc.,. Looks like knowing alone is not helping, I am not that mature to lift myself in a fake or negative environment."The same boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It's about what you're made of, not the circumstances."-By understanding in what all am I an egg and that all am I a potato, want to know how to lift my confidence, self esteem, purpose, regain my hope, and be happy and do good for society as well. Kindly help. Thanks.

Hello,

I suffer from major depressive disorder/Anxiety, i really need some help and its hard to find a good psychiatrist that is taking new patients here in Toronto, Canada.

I am currently suffering from a relapse of my condition for just over a year now, first some history:

Originally my depression was first triggered in 2004 after doing ecstasy drugs (just once) and after a very difficult year of suffering i was put on Cipralex which saved my life! i went back to being normal and it worked for 11 years until Feb of last year, i went through a break up with my ex gf after 4 years of living together, as soon as she moved out the next day at work i noticed the symptoms coming back, the depression was deep and that cloud/fog and feeling of emptiness and no interest in anything, along with anxiety and physical symptoms such as shortness of breath, restlessness, shakiness, tight chest, that warm feeling in the pit of my stomach, feeling like a burning sensation on my skin. my depression manifests both mentally and physically unfortunately, and its a vicious cycle of being worse during the day and some relief at night. i have been working with my family doctor who originally helped me the first time around, we increased the dose of Cipralex but that didn't help, it seems like the Cipralex has 'pooped out' on me. in the following months i have tried Zoloft, Pristiq, back to trying Cipralex again to see if it will work but it didn't, than we tried Cymbalta and nothing was working. during this whole time i have been taking Clonazapam as needed to help take the edge off in order to somehow manage at work. i went off Cymbalta and decided to stay off meds for 2 months and tried something more natural like 5HTP and SJW but obviously it didn't help.

So, it seems like a case of treatment resistant depression. currently i am taking Wellbutrin XL and been on it for 3 weeks so far, the side affects have been really hard, mainly stomach pain, increase in anxiety and insomnia, i can fall a sleep but cannot stay asleep and feel agitation and restlessness. i started at 150mg for 12 days and went up to 300mg and have been on that dose for about 9 days now. the side affects have subsided a little bit although i still cant sleep much even though i take the medication in the morning.

it hasn't helped so far and im not sure it will but i will give it more time just to be safe around 4-6 weeks.

I am really frustrated and my life is on hold for over a year, i cant believe this illness is back and im not able to get back to myself, don't know why my meds just stopped working and im starting to feel hopeless but im determined to find the right combo.

I saw my doctor this week and he suggested adding Serequel XR as an add on to Wellbutrin, another option was to add an SSRI to Wellbutrin as a combination strategy. i dont know if there's a point in trying other SSRI's that i haven't before such as Prozac?

Im sorry for the long message but im really desperate, i am getting married in May and i cant even enjoy the planning and just living one day at a time.

based on all the history and what i have tried including the recent suggestions from my GP, what would you recommend as the next step? or the next few options just to know what else i can try.

Thanks,

XXXX

My Step son has been diagnosed with Major Depressive disorder with psychosis. He's been on medication for about 6 years now and has had electro therapy but doesn't seem to be any better. He doesn't work and sits around and plays Xbox all day long. He doesn't care about anything or anyone and seems happy when he's making others unhappy. Shouldn't he be improving by now?

Recently I ve been having boughts of dizziness that feel like the world around me pulsates or moves when it isn t. I work overnight and thought it was from being overtired, but it has been continuing on days when I ve gotten plenty of rest as well. When it first started I did have headaches, but now the headaches are gone and the dizziness continues. I take medication for depression, anxiety and insomnia, but have been on all of my medications for at least 3 months, most a couple of years, and have not had this problem before. I m not sure what the cause could be or if I should see my doctor over this.
