Questions and answers on "Lethary, light headedness"
Earlier today I had a sudden onset of severe abdominal cramping which also caused sweating and lightheadedness . Within about 45 minutes I had several bowel movements and I vomited once. Since then, the lightheadedness and sweating has subsised, however, the abdominal cramping is still very much there and I constantly feel like I should be in the bathroom. Along with the cramping, I am concerned about the bright red blood , which may or may not be clots, that appear in the toilet.
Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM. Abdominal cramps with bloody diarrhoea and vomiting may be due to acute gastroenteritis or colitis or enterocolitis due to some infection. Less commonly, they may be manifestations of more serious conditions. Usually fresh blood in stool are due to...
I am 72 years old and have been experiencing lightheadedness in the mornings. I also have noticed numbness in my fingers and feet as well. I just had cataracts done and these symptoms have worsened. I don't feel this surgery has anything to do with it although my eyes are now so sensitive to light and my far-sightness is realy worse and I hope glasses will take care of that problem. Anyway, the lightheadedness goes away as the day progresses as does the numbness in feet and hands. Thank You.
Thank you for posting your question . I will do my best to help you.
Lightheadedness on getting out of bed is called postural hypotension or postural low blood pressure. I can understand how this can be a bit frightening but in fact it should not worry you. When going from the lying...
hello ive been having trouble with my stomach and bowels the last 3 days, been having watery poo s one that had blood . been sick a few times and light headedness also having pain and aches in my muscles; lower back and legs. eyes are continuously watering and when theyre not watering they re burning.. what s wrong with me?
This is due to an infection in GIT and dehydration from watery stools. You need not to worry. You take plenty of fluids. You avoid working hard. You take light meals and soup. Moreover, take an antibiotic dosage of ofloxacin and ornidazole.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I...
My husband gets up and does not feel light headed. He takes his thyroid pill and his blood pressure medication. About two and a half months ago, he began feeling lightheaded two hours after he took the thyroid medication. He found out he had high blood pressure. He was put on blood pressure medication that he took in addition to the thyroid medication. He was told to monitor his blood pressure. His blood pressure went down to normal, but he continues to experience the lightheadedness. The lightheadedness begins around two hours after he takes the medication the first thing in the morning before eating his breakfast. The doctor changed his blood pressure medication. The lightheadedness contined. Then he switched him back to the first medication. The lightheadedness continues. He had many blood tests. His heart rate is normal. He had a brain MRI. There were no abnormalties. He was checked by his doctor a few times since this started and there don't appear to be any abnormalties. He usually only experiences the lightheadness when standing, not while sitting. He describes the lightheadedness as coming from the top of his head. It doesn't appear to curtail his ability to function. He says he thinks he doesn't get enough sleep. He is 81 years old. We don't know what the causes or cause fo this is for this problem is.
Hi and thanks for the question, what you describe your husband is experiencing is called orthostatic hypotension. (Drop in blood pressure). A dramatic drop in the systolic blood pressure — the higher number in your blood pressure reading — may result in lightheadedness or a feeling of faintness....
I have some upper back pain and I get some sort of lightheadedness...I have a little cough that has been there since I had the upper respiratory flu(2 months)... any ideas any of this related? I may have done something to my back a month ago I was on computer alot for about three weeks. I had a back x XXXXXXX nothing there
Hello, Thanks for the query. Your two problems of upper back ache and persistent cough are unrelated to each other. Your upper back pain is basically a postural pain and has been brought about by long working on computer. Treatment involves physiotherapy along with exercises aimed at relieving...
I have been having lightheadedness and pressure in my head and around my ear. I also have some weakness from time to time in my arm. I am on Betahistine which helps, but I don't want to take it too much and become dependent on it.
I am on a wait list to see a neurologist, but the wait time is about four months. My doctor thinks it is a virus in my inner ear and I just have to wait it out. I am becoming anxious about my whole situation.
Brief Answer: Detailed reply is below
Detailed Answer: Hi, Thank you for posting your query.
Based on your symptoms, there are two possibilities:
1. Labyrinthine dysfunction- which is often due to virus infection in the ear. It gradually improves over time on own, and doing vestibular...
I got the flu shot nine days ago. The next day I almost passed out in the gym. I was taken to the hospital. Had an ekg, cat scan on my brain, blood work etc. All good. I am still getting spells of light headedness. It seems to happen right as I am eating food. I have had my blood pressure and sugar checked. All good. I am also getting flutters and a little discomfrot iin my upper stomach and mid back pain. Any ideas?
Hello, Thanks for posting your query. Since all your investigations and blood work are normal, most likely the dizziness you are feeling is due to a fluid and electrolyte imbalance. Light headedness after exercise and after food is noted when after eating the blood is deviated to the stomach for...
Last night while laying down, I suddenly felt light headed (like I was going to pass out), but what ran through my brain was that it was something to do with my heart (I have WPW ). I saw nor felt a change in my heart rate , and the light headedness subsided within a few minutes. I also began to feel feverish, but had no temperature. I also had mild diarhea, which is now a tad worse. I aslo had slight heartburn from just eating chili, but that went away by morning. Naturally, I felt anxious all night and had trouble sleeping. I managed to fall asleep twice, but woke up with a somewhat damp pillow. Other times when I fell asleep, I immediately woke up, as if I stopped breathing . I assume this has to do with the anxiety and nervouseness. I am a 30 year old male, and for the most part eat somewhate healthy. Can you advise me, or provide some reassurance? Thanks
* Overall condition present more in relation with excess stress and anxiety at a first instance.
* Thorough mind relaxation, deep breathing exercises, and meditations are recommended over the period of time with chart maintenance so far as the symptoms are concerned.
* Consult online after a...

The symptoms you have could probably be due to either defect in the cardiac or respiratory system.
Since the cardiac morbidity has been ruled out after a Stress test. I would consider and see a need for a complete respiratory system evaluation with an Chest...
I am a 21 year old female with ITP. I have been experiencing light headedness, random swelling in my fingers and hands accompanied by itching, which includes every once and awhile little clear blisters on my fingers, a little nose bleeding and joint pain. My hematologist didn't seem concerned with the light headedness.
hi there, thanks for asking. Although ITP is a benign condition, it could be a part of Lupus. It could also seen in other immunologic diseases. Light headedness could be a sign of nervous system or cardiovascular system, or hematologic (anemia can cause light headedness) involvement. It is...
Hi, I am a 43 year old female that smokes!!! I have been having a few health problems in the last 2 years. It all started 2 years ago when I got bloodwork done and my Doctor told me my blood sodium level was a point below normal, she told me to drink gatorade to restore my level. Eventually the symptoms associated with low sodium levels went away. Then last year I went to her with similar symptoms and more bloodwork was done, the results were that I had Hypothyroidism and a B12 deficiency, she put me on synthyroid 100mcg and 1000 mcg of vitamin B12 pills. I made her do more bloodwork 3 months later and things were looking up. In May of last year I was feeling lousy and went to the emergency room because I was having palpations and they found my synthroid dose was too high and lowered it to 88mcg, after a while I started feeling better. I told the emergency room doctor about heart problems running in my family so they ordered a stress test which came back good, they told me I wouldn't have a heart attack from blocked arteries. When I told my family doctor (years ago) about the heart problems in my family she told me " you don't need to worry about that because it doesn't affect women until menopause" and wouldn't send me for any tests!!!!!! In December 2013 I began having palpations, so I asked the doctor for more bloodwork and everything came back within normal levels, at that time I showed her that I was having edema in my ankles, she checked my blood pressure which was 117/74, my heart rate was 88, so she sent me for an E.C.G. It supposedly showed that everything was normal except my resting heart rate at that time was 92 b.p.m, so my doctor put me on 150mg of Rythmol 2 x a day. On the 25th of January I called 811 (nurses hotline for health inquiries), they patched me through to 911 who immediately dispatched an ambulance because my symptoms sounded like a heart attack!!! When the paramedics did an E.C.G on me it showed I was in sinus tachycardia and left atrial enlargement, the E.R doctors put in a request for a holter monitor and an echocardiogram. I saw my doctor on the following Monday and she said she "doesn't believe it's my heart" and gave me anti-anxiety meds. With all the things I have just told you what else could it be? Even with the Rythmol I am still having light-headedness, edema, breathlessness, occasional chest pains and fast heart rate; this morning it was 110b.p.m, now though my blood pressure is dropping yesterday it was 107/68. It normally has been pretty close to 120/80. What do you suggest?
am a femal that is 5 ft 2 in and 280 lbs. This morning I woke up to dizzyness. I still have dizzy spells from time to time, but am constantly light-headed and lightly thumping. Last night and today my right arm stays in a constant state inbetween normal and numb. Once and a while I have a pain in it but it is not often. I have been in and out of nausea or heartburn all day long. I was wondering if I should go to the ER for a heart problem?
Hello. For the past 3 weeks I have been having a hard time falling asleep and I keep feeling over heated at night. I have also been hungry a lot where I feel like I cannot eat enough food. I have been eating a lot more then normal but I never feel full. Today I feel very light headed and neasuous. What could be happening to me?
I had a kidney infection just over a week ago, & was put Levofloxin for 7 days. Since that time I have been constipated. I tried everything, but resorted to a suppository yesterday which worked. Last night & today, I have still felt bloated, nauseated, & had abdominal pain . I ve also had some lightheadedness & tingling down my left arm. Today I saw a clump of blood (some bright red, & some dark) in the toilet that came from the rectum. any ideas?

At the moment, my pulse rate is 48 and I am lightheaded. I take a beta blocker ( Nadolol ). My dosage had recently been increased, but it had become regulated. Should I be concerned right now or just wait to see if the lightheadedness subsides?
