I am 75 yrs old. About one year ago my doctor prescribed me 2g citapin in the evening meal and diamecron 90 with my breakfast. My blood sugar level came to normal. From the last few months I am experiencing irritable bowel syndrome. Some time I observe that in my stool citapin two tablets are with my stool unsolutioned. What is your advice

doctor1 MD

THe Citapin tablets need to be taken with food and not after meals/before meals. The drug Metformin /Citapin may irritate the bowels and cause cramps and frequent stools which may resemble IBS.If the drug is taken with meals,it may be less troublesome.

I have suffered from irritable bowel syndrome in the past however it cleared itself up and hasnt affected me for years now. I drink a lot of lucozade on a daily baisis and it seems that my irritable bowel syndrome has come back, i have been suffering terribly from frequent, painful diarrhea and would like to know if lucozade could be making my ibs worse? i am 16 years old, weigh 8 and 1/2 stone .

doctor1 MD

Thanks for writing in HCM.
The chances of it being due to IBS is quite low. You need to regulate your diet and start a balanced diet. In addition regular exercise and plenty of plain water rather than aerated drinks will be more beneficial.

No!

I have been experiencing some discomfort from my tailbone over the last few months. Recently I have been using a foam pad with a cut out for the tailbone area and it is making a big difference. I have been taking Advil on a somewhat regular basis to help. It seems to be healing , but its healing slowly. One thing that has been really annoying about this is that over the last few months, I have been having difficulty making a bowel movement . In the last few days I have not made a bowel movement. I took a laxative 2 days ago and it really helped, but since then I have not made a bowel movement (other than a couple very small ones).

She will be completely fine and then it just happens. What would you say in your opinion this sounds like? She is 24 and symptoms like this started at age 6, and it s like things get worse and then she will have a period of being somewhat decent but still irritable bowel and diarrhea .

The only relief I get from these symptoms is by taking a hot bath/shower to soothe my stomach. I am a 31 y/o female, smoker.
