My husband complained that he woke up at 4 am in which his eyes kept moving back and forth and head felt like it was also moving back and forth. He also said that both legs were also trembling/shaking. He said he felt some relief lying on his back but if he moved to either side of his body, it made it worse. He was not able to go back to sleep because it scared him. This is the first time this has happened. He suffers from high blood pressure and general anxiety disorder. He is taking medications for them and has been for several years. Can you explain what might have occurred and does he need to see a doctor right away. Thank you.

Hello. I am a final year medical student. My mum had her BP taken last week and it was 180/130. She bought a blood pressure monitor yesterday and it has been reading 220/150 relatively consistently since (normal BP readings on rest of family), she has no headache/visual problems. She has rang the doctors-on-call and the nurse told her to wait and see her normal GP in working hours (this means waiting 48 hours). I am worried about malignant hypertension - should I persuade her to go to A&E?
