Questions and answers on "Hepatitis c"

My Hepatitis C infection occurred in 1970. I completely recovered. Then in 2001 I was tested for a life insurance policy and the antibody showed up so they insisted on a PCR test which was negative. I was issued the policy with standard rates. Recently, over the past few years, I self diagnosed a minor case of Sjögren's syndrome and Raynauds syndrome. Should I be concerned?
Thanks for your question .
I would be pleased to answer your question .

With the history of raynaud's syndrome and Sjogren's syndrome it would surely be necessary to get certain tests done to check for the extent of the diseases.
You should get a CT scan of the lung to check for the lung...

hi there,
I am patient of hepatitis C and I got hepatitis C 5 years before
after every three months I go for ALT test and my doctor told me its pretty good
and I don't need treatment of hepatitis C
I just needs to know is that correct or I still need treatment
From your medical data you are diagnosed with non reactive hepatitis C.
I am glad to know that your liver panel are normal and it means that you don't need treatment.
But to perform exact diagnosis if your hepatitis C is reactive or not in our clinic practice we use HCV-RNA level test.

Hi, I recently pricked myself with a used pin at the local tailors. The pin pierced my skin but didn't draw any blood. If the tailor has Hepatitis C is it likely I would have caught the disease from her?
Thanks for posting your query.

What you have had is called as “needle stick injury”by doctors. Since the needle pricked the skin but there was no blood, chances of hepatitis C transmission are very less. The Hepatitis C virus can survive outside the body at room temperature, on...

Can my boyfriend give me hepatitis C while I am on my period? I do not have hepatitis C but my boyfriend does.
Hello and thanks for the query.
Hepatitis C is believed to be transmitted only by blood. However, unlike many other blood borne viruses (like HIV) virtually any source of blood or blood products seems to be capable of carrying the virus, even if the source is indirect - like a used razor, for...

About 3 weeks ago I got Hepatitis C blood on my hands when trying to fix IV tubing on a patient's IV. I immediately washed it off and checked my hands for cuts. I had a scab on one finger and chapped knuckles from repeated washing but did not see any visible bleeding cuts. I went through occupational health and got tested for antibodies which have been negative. I am getting tested again at 6 weeks but my nerves are getting the best of me! Am I at high risk for contracting Hepatitis C?
Its unlikely that you have a infection if your skin was intact with no wounds and no cut,and you washed your hand immedietly, but prevention is better than cure so I recommend you to get your blood test done and get physicians opinion
