Extrapyramidal symptoms

What is Extrapyramidal symptoms?

Set of movement disorders which might be manifestations of metabolic disorders, geriatrict disorders or anti psychotic medications. Some of the examples include acute dystonia, akathisia, dyskinisia etc. The basic etiology is lack of dopamine action which might be due to decreased dopamine levels or due to non-functionality of the dopamine receptors.
