What is Dracunculiasis?

Dracunculiasis ,caused by Dracunculus, medinesis ,is a parasitic infection .Few or no clinical manifestations of dracnculiasis are evident until just before the blisters forms, when there is onset of fever and generalized allergic symptoms, icluding periorbital edema,wheezing and urticaria .Diagnosis is confirmed by presence of adult worms in infected material in a lab.Worms excised by surgery .
