What is Copd?

It is long term disease due to increased resistance to air during inspiration. It can be result of lung or air way diseases. Chronic bronchitis, allergies and asthma are common cause of COPD. Chest xray and pulmonary function test are diagnostic.

Hi, I am a 36yr. old female, and I was just diagnosed with COPD. I still smoke, and I was wondering how quickly will my COPD progress if I continue to smoke? I smoke about a pack a day.

As you have COPD,smoking is very dangerous will lead to serious complications threatening for life.
Stop smoking totally as soon as possible to cut down complications due to COPD.
Go for deep breathing exercise.

hi i was just wondering my mother is 46 years of age nd thinks she mite be pregnant but is scared that her copd she was diagnosed 9 years ago nd has only had one bad experience with it nd that was when she was diagnosed with it will this effect her pregnancy??

I am suffering from copd and for the last month have worsened having become sob when walking just a short amount and also feeling like I'm becoming incontinent with urine & I'm only 41..the more sob I get the more I feel like I'll be incontinent...ever heard of this?

my husband is having problems urinating. he has started taken new medicines and i was wondering if they effect each other. his blood pressure is very low. he has copd. the medicines are digoxin, metoprolol, prednisone, eliquis. his blood pressure has been between 85/42 and 120/70. he feels very weak when the blood pressure goes under 130/70. i need to know which of these medicines effects the blood pressure to go so low. thank you for your help.

at nite or when ever i go to sleep,after being asleep awhile i wake up not breathing my body acts as if i just quit breathing-i am 74 ys and got copd,and problems from smoking,,i have oxygen and it still does it..why would i stop breathing even with oxygen on

yes, i've worked in pharmacy back in the 90's and up till around 2005. when or is tramdol a schedule drugand if so when did this take place..i'm asking because my mother recently passed from copd and was on this medication for quite some time..i was reading up on it and side effects, said not to take if you have breathing problems..the Dr's had prescribed this a couple of years ago and knowing her condition. i'm well aware that most narcotics should be used with caution especially someone with copd and they had prescribed this 1-2 tablets po tid prn..can you explain. i'm really sory, i did'nt know you would charge me for a simple explanation.

tramadol is a narcotic like analgesic. Contraindicated inrespiratory problem Itcan cause convulsion. Should be used for mild to moderate pain. It should not betaken with other sedative and tranquiliser. If requered take second opinion and chahge the analgesic.

Generally COPD patients have a higher CO2 level which can be effectively removed by using BIPAP which your doctor has rightly prescribed. O2 saturation level is to be maintained around 90 (plus minus)2 % and if it is below 88% then your mom should receive long term...

I was diagnosed with COPD some 8 years ago and have coped with it quite well. However, for about four months now I have been sweating in my head and upper body during the night, so bad that I get my nightgown wet and have to wash my hair almost everyday. my husband has copd and had to have his nose operated on befor the operation his septer was 85% pluged up he had a sleep apnea test done befor the surgary and it is now having a very hard time breathing at night and when he sleeps he holds his breath and snores a lot he has very bad teeth that im sure are not helping the problem he isn't doing any thing about it tell now I am his wife of over 30 years im very worried about him he will stay in bed for hours at times he has stayed in the bed tell 3 pm with over 14 hours of strugeling to breath while sleeping I have copd also so I know how he feels I am not insurable but I do have an oxygen machine help me please
