For the last 2 weeks I have been having a brown liquid anal discharge when I pass wind and have only been passing loose stools until this morning when I had a normal bowel movement . I have always had a problem with opening my bowels but have had a bowel cancer test in the last 6 months which proved clear. Is there anything to be worried about. I look forward to your reply. Thankyou.

recently had some bowel issues..I suffer from severe anxiety and during this episode...I had a lot of gas...and irregular movements sometimes with a bit of food in my stool...once had eaten red licorice and found it in my stool in which case I freaked and thought it was blood...however since my anxiety has calmed down..my bowel movements are very regular and back to normal I am wondering if I should be concerned that maybe I have bowel cancer...would I have symptoms and then could they disappear if I had something seriously going on with my colon?

BLOOD AND LOSSE STOOLS IN CHILDREN ARE USUALLY CAUSED BY BACTERIAL INFECTIONS OF THE GUT. THEY ARE VERY MILD AND CAN BE EASELY TREATED BY ORAL ANTIBIOTICS. IF THERE ARE NO OTHER SYMTOMS LIKE SIGNIFICANT WEIGHT LOSS >10%, DECREASED APPETITE, ETC THEN THE CHANCES OF BOWEL CAMCER ARE PRACTICALLY NIL...

My father has been having chemotherapy for bowel cancer which has spread to lungs and liver. He has had no side effects from the chemo except tiredness. Today however after 10 doses of what was intended to be a 24 week course he has been told they are stopping his chemotherapy because of of his increasing psa count. Why would they do this if there are no apparent negative side effects

He Is due a ct scan in a weeks time, and a revisit to his consultant in three weeks

doctor1 MD

Dear Sir,

Sorry to hear about your father's problem. Are you sure it says PSA count because PSA is not raised in bowel cancer and is a marker of prostatic cancer. CEA is a marker of bowel cancer and if it is raised, it suggests that the cancer is spreading.
It is advisable that you consult your...

I am concerned about my bowel movements. I have had bright red blood in my stools on and off for about a year. At first I thought it was hemoriods. It has gotten worse and there has been mucus in my stools as well. When I wipe there is usually mucus and blood. Also my stools are irregular, meaning that at times it is hard to go and other times I feel I can not hold it, but usually I still feel as if I have to go even after I go. I am 35 and have know history of bowel cancer in my family.
