Calcium metabolism

What is Calcium metabolism?

Calcium metabolism is a mechanism by which the body maintains normal Calcium levels. If the calcium level of the body decreases or increases it leads to either hypocalcemia or hypercalcemia. In high level of calcium, thyroid gland releases calcitonin. And in case of low level of calcium parathyroid gland releases PTH maintaining optimum level of Calcium.
