hello.i read your query.valium (diazepam) is and valerian are two different substances.although they are used for same indication of anxiety and insomnia.and valerian is thought to share the same mechanism of action with valium i.e via GABA receptors.hence drug interaction.hope my answer is helpful to you in understanding the difference and similirity between the two.
