Had Widal Test For Typhoid. What Are The Findings?
Widal test for typhoid gave following values:
S. typhi "O" antigen 1:40 S.typhi "H" antigen 1:80 S. paratyphi A "H" antigen 1:80 S. paratyphi B "H" antigen 1:20
Doctor please answer the following: What is the severity level of Typhoid? What is the normal range of Widal test values? What medicines should be taken?
Above findings of widal test is negative. Antigen O or H value equal or greater than 1: 160 is considered as positive. But single reading is not of much value. Serial four fold increase in titre is most valuable. Tablet cefixime or ofloxacin can be given in oral medication. Injectable ceftriaxone 1 gm I.V twice daily can be given for seven days.
