Red splotches seem like you are describing a rash or contact dermatitis. This may not necessarily be due to the sun. Heat and certain types of fabric can also cause contact dermatitis. Try and apply a 1% hydrocortisone cream to a small area to see if it helps. If the problem doesn't go away, you need to see a dermatologist.
