Spot On Breast, Painful. Mammogram Normal. Next Step?

I have a spot near the side of my left breast( not armpit) that hurts when I do a breast examine and when I do much lifting.Also the breast is larger than the right one. I have had a mamogram that showed nothing, but I still am very concerned and dont know what my next step should be1? Im not looking for trouble, yet dont want to miss any signs of something I could stop at an early stage....

You can be reassured that most painful spots don't turn out to be a cancer, however that is not a guarantee. The negative mammogram, assuming that it was within the last six months to a year, is also very reassuring. However, the only way to know for sure is to ask your doctor to do do a small biopsy of the lesion to see what it is. sometimes your doctor may even be able to tell by just looking at it. So please see your doctor for an exam.
