Shortness Of Breath At Rest. CT Scan, Chest X-ray, Oxygen Saturation Level Normal. Treatment?
My wife is suffering from shortness of breath. She is very active, She is training for a triathlon (she has done many before) and takes crossfit classes. She does not feel the shortness of breath when working out. She feels it when she is at home sitting or at work. She had a CT scan with contrast done and a chest xray and both are negative. She had her blood oxygen level checked which came back at 85% She has a follow up appt with pulmanary doc on august 7th, but wonder what are next steps are?
Though as per your description all the tests in your wife`s case are normal but her oxygen saturation is low. It should be>95% in a healthy adult. When you visit your pulmonologist pl discuss it with him. He will examine her in detail and aks for relevant tests like PFT, Diffusion capacity and if req a CT Chest.
