Prescribed Keflex For Recurring Cellulitis. Having Progressive Pain, Swelling, Redness In Knuckle And Heat On Back Of Hand

Progressive pain, swelling, heat, redness in knuckle of middle finger over four days. Accompanied by some swelling and heat of back of hand. Appeared similar to cellulitis, but no injury or puncture wound. Seen by M.D. and given Keflex 500 mg qid for two weeks for recurrent cellulitis. Similar occurrence 8 months before this of knuckle of little finger same hand. I am a 60 year old retired registered nurse with severe degenerative arthritis, failed back syndrome and degenerative disc disease. No diabetes. Younger male sibling has gout. Although I am a female, might I have the same diagnosis?

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
This may not be cellulitis, and not the infection so the antibiotic wont help you any more, I think at this stage NSAID will work nicely and the Diclofenac is the drug of choice here, you better have hot fermentation also,I am sure this will come around, to rule out the possibility of infection, routine blood examination and x-ray study is must, if it fails to responds then these test has to be done, have nice day.
