Blood In Stools. Taking Cranberry Pills. Is It Related?

I have been taking cranberry pills every so often for the past few weeks. Today I noticed that my stool was completely covered in what seemed like blood. I noticed this a few weeks ago but it was much less servere. Today it was very alarming and there were excessive amounts. Could this be caused from the cranberry pills or could I have something more serious going on?

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.Ratnakar and I am pleased to assist you.

No cranberry pills does not cause blood in stools.
Blood in stools could be due to many different reasons like hemorroids, fissures, IBD, polyps and malignancy.
If you are not sure whether it is blood or something else, you can get a stool analysis done.
If it is blood, you may need to undergo a colonoscopy to find the cause.
